About us

Don’t know who we are? Start here!

Hi! I’m Michael Chen, proud husband and partner to Robert Pitts. We live in Dallas, and DFW is our home airport. Together, we make up the Chen and Pitts duo.

Who are we?

  • Michael was born in Shanghai, grew up in Austin, and now calls Dallas home. He works in the Hospitality/F&B sector, and is passionate about great food, great wine, and geeks out about weird things like credit card points and uncommon planes.
  • Robert is a native Texan, born and raised. He works as a flight attendant for a major airline, and loves dark beer, dumplings, vinyl records, and rock concerts. If not in the air flying, you can usually find him in the vicinity of Debbie Harry.

Why this blog? People have always been curious about our travels, and we have received the whole spectrum of who, what, when, where, why, and how. The goals of the blog are follows:

  • Explain to people “how” we can travel so much. Of course, travel benefits through Robert’s job help, and Michael’s nerdiness about Points and Miles helps as well. Michael will give you the run down without the “hard sell” credit card offers most travel blogs are littered with.
  • Offer tips and recommendations on the destinations we visit, from how to get around to hotels/restaurants to consider.
  • Document our journeys for our own memories, and as a resource to share with friends and family when looking back at our travels.

Why now? Well, we are about to embark on the trip of a lifetime, our honeymoon! And what better way to kick off a blog than the most badass trip we’ve ever taken? Just to give you a teaser of what to expect…

  • We will be flying some really cool planes and cabins, including Lufthansa First Class on the 747-8i, Singapore Airlines’ new Business Class on the A350 and 787-10, Cathay Pacific Business Class on the A350, Korean Air First Class on the 77W and the 747-8i as well (should make a fun head to head comparison!), and ending with a flight on the AA’s legendary MD-80 in First Class just days before the model gets permanently retired.
  • We will be staying at some cool, “bucket list” places as well, from the Black Rhino Game Lodge located in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve outside of Johannesburg, to the Waldorf Astoria in Bangkok, to the historic InterContinental Hong Kong.
  • We have some cool experiences planned as well, from our first safari game drive, to visiting the Cape of Good Hope, to exploring the birthplace of K-Pop (Robert is probably most excited about that…..)

Follow along with us, as we crisscross the planet! We are so excited to share the joys and frustrations of our experiences! We never know what to expect….
